COLOR RECOVERY and THE COLORS OF LIFE

Sunlight is the most natural light we have, so daylight (100%) is considered a reference for any light source.

There is a misconception that when the light color is chosen in light sources, the desired effect will be achieved immediately. The result is not always as expected. The reason for this is that besides the light color of the desired effect, the effect of the Color Rendering Index (CRI) is ignored. Lighting preferences should be determined with these two parameters, which should be evaluated completely separately.

CRI : Color Rendering Index refers to how colors appear under artificial light sources. The higher the CRI of an artificial light source, the closer the colors underneath appear to their natural colors in daylight.

To illustrate the Color Rendering Index value with an example, we can examine the color change on the apples below.

To give a sectoral example; we can consider the hairdressing salons, which are the places most visited by women. If the customer who dyes his hair sees the right color in front of the mirror and does not want to encounter a surprise when he goes out, light sources with a CRI value of 85 and above should be preferred.

Similarly, light sources with high CRI values (CRI>85) are preferred in order to make the products offered for sale in the fruit and vegetable sections of the markets look fresh and thus increase their appeal in the eyes of the customers. If the correct CRI values are not used in the meat exhibited in the butchers, the products will look colorless and old, although they are fresh. Again, in jewelers, the right light to be used will attract the attention of customers as it will bring the color of the gold to the fore.

Of course, we can increase these examples. It is recommended that every sector where displaying the right colors is essential to consider the CRI value when choosing the light source.

If we talk about the importance of the color rendering index for lighting;

  • The eye’s ability to see increases
    Eye health is protected.
    With the increase in visual performance, the efficiency of the work increases and it provides economic benefits.
    Visual comfort is provided psychologically, the user feels happy in his environment.
    Accidents resulting from visual errors or poor vision are reduced.
    Aesthetic expectations and comfort are provided.
    Increased sense of security

    Live life with all its colors with high color rendering values in lighting.
